The next entries relate to the person in your school who is the best person to be contacted about your school's overall involvement (choir and Representative Groups) in the Christchurch Schools' Music Festival. This is the person to whom we will send information that affects your participation. Quite often this will be the teacher responsible for the choir, but in some schools this may be your Principal, the Head of Music, a Head of Department, the Choir Manager, an Executive Officer, a person co-ordinating a number of schools or similar. It is important that this person is able to co-ordinate the Representative Group members as well as the choir, if you have one.

Choir Information
Please do not exaggerate the number of singers in your choir. Space is limited. Be aware that you will not be able to increase your choir number from the number advised in this Choir Registration. If you are a school that is new to the Festival please keep your number under 50, otherwise the maximum number is 100. We have the right to reduce your choir numbers if we have exceeded venue capacity. You will be required to finalise numbers and provide a list of children's names before the end of August. Also, please ensure that you have co-ordinated your selections for performance nights with other school activities as once allocations have been made it will not be possible to change them. - We agree with and support the objectives of the Music Festival.
- We confirm that all members of our participating choir will be in Year 5 - 8 and that younger children will not be permitted to perform.
- We agree to teach our choir the songs selected for the massed choirs.
- We understand that, due to the copyright restrictions, we cannot make additional copies of the Festival Song Books or Accompaniment Books, and we cannot use the Festival-provided material (Books, Learning Tracks for songs) for any purpose other than rehearsing for the Festival. - A representative of the school will attend the whole of the Teachers’ Demonstration Meeting at Avonhead School Hall on Wednesday, 7 May, 2025, 3.45pm - 5.00pm
- We confirm that the school will support the Festival Executive by providing qualified staff to exercise high-quality supervision of pupils at rehearsals and the performances, and will ensure that the standard of behaviour required by the Festival Executive is maintained by all of the school’s pupils who are involved.
Helping the Festival Executive
The Festival is a massive event - massively successful, and a mass of organisation. The Festival Executive is a group of teachers and principals who work each year to make it happen for the 4000 or so pupils who look forward to it as one of the highlights of their music-making each year. If you would like to assist by serving on the Festival Executive, or you know someone in your school who would be an asset to the Festival Executive, please enter details below.
