Teachers’ Workshops

It is compulsory for each school that is participating in the Festival to have a representative present at this demonstration. Ideally this should be the choir conductor, as how the music will be performed is discussed and worked on with the massed choir conductors. Your school will also be provided with the songbooks you have ordered, including Teaching Notes and accompanist music if you have requested it. 

As extra PD we are offering a workshop, from 1.30 to 3.00pm on the same afternoon. This is for any teachers who wish to have more time working on the Festival songs. This workshop is free and will precede the Teacher demonstration which will still be held at 3.45pm. The workshop will include some good techniques and resources you can use to help your choir learn the massed choir songs.  More information will be sent out closer to the time.

This workshop is a good way to gain some more Professional Development. The workshop will include vocal warm ups, rehearsal techniques, sharing of vocal resources and help with the festival songs for this year. It will be a practical workshop with some focus on conducting but we will not be asking you to do any conducting in front of the group! It is a supportive and fun workshop where we can get together and share ideas. The cost is $25 +GST and an invoice will be sent if you didn’t register for the workshop when you submitted your choir application (but if you did there’s no need to re-register here).  Attendees will receive a Certificate of Continuing Professional Development.
