The Christchurch Schools’ Music festival is based on the involvement of choirs from schools in Christchurch, its environs and from the West Coast.
On each night of the Festival, a different Massed Choir of about 700 voices made up from some of the schools involved, performs a selection of songs with the support of the Junior and Senior Representative Choirs, the Concert Band and the Symphony Orchestra.
Each school choir performs on just one night of the Festival.
Directors of school choirs and principals of schools involved in the Music Festival should be aware of all of the information contained in this site.
The festival is organised by the Christchurch Schools’ Music Festival Association Inc (CSMFA), a charity registered with the Department of Internal Affairs. The CSMFA is made up of all schools involved in the current Music Festival.
