Youth Alive Trust
Youth Alive Trust is a youth and community development agency that has been serving whānau on the east of Christchurch for over 35 years. It supports hundreds of young people every week through a wide variety of programmes and activities, including 7 weekly youth clubs, youth workers in schools, a daily OSCAR, 3 different holiday programmes, Mana Ake wellbeing support, community events, parenting seminars and courses, Amplify School of Music, and leadership development of volunteers. Read on for some very impressive statistics of the wonderful work being done by this Trust and its many volunteers.
In the past 12 months, Youth Alive Trust’s weekly clubs were attended by 4,820 individuals, 1,762 young people attended their Oscar after-school care programme, and 1988 young people attended the holiday programmes. The Trust ran 3,405 musical instrument lessons; the Family Fun Night was attended by 800 people and they helped lead the massive ‘I Love Brighton Day’ that was attended by approximately 10,000 people. The Trust’s Mana Ake team ran 597 individual wellbeing support sessions, 899 young people attended wellbeing support groups, and 77 caregivers were supported with guidance and advice. 142 parents attended one of their parenting seminars and then there were many mentoring sessions, and in-school counselling sessions. The Trust’s team of volunteers gave 5,575 hours of mahi serving local young people – that’s more than 100 hours each week – a very impressive total.
