Darryn is in his 33rd year of education, which also includes 11 years in Principalship based in the Hawkes Bay and then North Canterbury. In 2025 Darryn made the decision to move back into a Deputy Principal role and won a position at Lemonwood Grove School in Rolleston which is the South Island’s largest primary school, with a current roll of 1100 students. Throughout Darryn’s time in education he has taken senior and junior choirs, written and produced school productions and assisted with school orchestras and bands. He has a background in music and dance / drama, having trained as both a singer (8 years) and as a dancer (5 years). In his younger years he was involved in a number of theatre companies and is now looking forward to stepping into the role of Treasurer and continuing to work alongside this strong and connected Festival Executive.
